Long hair on guys...?

As of now, my hair is medium length shags (5-6 inches long). Its brown semi-blonde... the lead singer in underoath, spencer chamberlain, has awesome long hair; my hair is straight like his, though his is darker and obviously, longer. I don't think my parents would agree with that long of hair, but its my choice. Should I go through the trouble of trying to grow it like that, what do you girls (and i guess guys) think?

Some addional information that might help (lmao) is:

im 16, i live in canada, im caucasion, im mainly skater with a little emo (kindof fitting shirts all black from west49 ahha, and not tight but not loose jeans) blue eyes, play guitar, slender with signs of working out:D, pretty tall.

My main concern is that I will grow it and it will look gross. Sometimes it doesnt look sweet on a guy, it just looks unappealing, especially when its back in a pony tail or whatever its caled. I like long hair that looks kindof wet, but not greasy, and going forward into the face.

Long hair in good condition, shiny and DRY I might add is lovely on guys. Men tend to have thicker more gorgeous hair when long! Having said this all my other girl friends HATE long hair on men....... You need to do what you want.

Ask a stylist if your hair is capable of doing what you want. If not, then cut it. Also, your the one that has to like it.

I'm a girl and when me and my friends see a guy with long hair we call him a girl. Girl's hate it when a guy has hair as long as her or longer than her! If you a skater its going to mess you up because it gets in your face. I'm a skater and it took me forever because my hair got in my face. That was a HUGE prob. So I say no you shouldn't grow your hair!

got long hair my self and i know that lots of the girls i meet and know love me haveing long hair only probolem is i have to wash it evrey day and spend lots of time styling it in the morning.also you hair needs to be able to look like that otherwize itll look a mess so ask you hairdresser

Emo/skater long hair is hot.

I haven't seen many people with long hair that looked kinda gross. The only person I can think of right now is Bert McCracken, the lead singer of The Used. His hair now that its blode is really nasty looking.

I'm about your age (17) and I think it would look awesome.

Older people (such as parents) would think it would make you look like a girl and would be pointless.
